Over three hundred members of charismatic prayer groups from the Boston Archdiocese and surrounding areas gathered at Immaculate Conception parish in Malden on September 8, 2018 to renew and strengthen their commitment to God through the Holy Spirit. This conference is an annual event sponsored by Charismatic Renewal Services of the Archdiocese of Boston (CRS Boston).
Michelle Moran, former head of International Catholic Charismatic Renewal office in Rome, offered four talks clarifying our understanding of holiness and challenging us to mission. After each talk she answered questions from the audience to help guide prayer groups.
The Catholic Charismatic Renewal in the Boston area is a multi-cultural experience. Members from Ugandan, Nigerian, Vietnamese, American, Haitian, Hispanic, and Brazilian prayer groups coordinated the event.
Musicians from several prayer groups led by Roque Peña provided animated music to support praise and singing. MC, Ginny Rossini introduced each session and offered guidance to the events of the day. Wendy Rodrigues expressively translated Michelle Moran's talks into Spanish.
Janice Fillippi, the Director of CRS Boston, introduced the the following members of the CRS Boson Council: Noelle Mukasa, Anne Kasenge, Juliette Bruce, Romania Ajaero, Ralph Ilona, Roque Pena, Maria Peña, Jude Ngduba (new member Nigerian community), Felix Janson, Michelle Sylvestre, Valert Almeria, Manuel Navarro, Jesse St Pierre Louis, Pauline Onechefuhle (outgoing Nigerian)
Bishop Arthur Kennedy presided at the closing Mass. Father Robert Carr, the spiritual director of CRS Boston, provided Spanish translation during the Mass.
